CHEF PICCO APPOINTED PRIVATE CHEF TO #SWNT
Chef Cristian Picco has landed the role as exclusive chef to the Scotland National Women’s football team as they continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Cristian will accompany the women’s side to all training camps and both domestic and international fixtures, ensuring their nutritional needs are met for peak performance.
The squad, captained by Rachel Corsie, are currently pursuing their FIFA World Cup Group B qualifying campaign. Picco accompanied the team to Poland in June where they triumphed against Ukraine in an impressive 4-0 defeat in Poland. The team will reconvene in September when they face the Faroe Islands.
On his appointment by the Scottish FA, Chef Picco commented: “For me, food is all about emotion and its my responsibility to prepare the cuisine that ensures the squad is both emotionally and nutritionally prepared for duty.
"Being Italian, my passions are both food and football and this role encapsulates both. I’m both honoured and excited to play my part in preparing the team for duty.”
A ROYAL EXPERIENCE
Chef Picco was delighted to be asked to cook for a number of members of the Royal family and their guests at the COP26 summit in November 2021.
Under the stunning lights and grandeur of Balmoral Castle, CP delighted Prince Charles and his esteemed guests with his culinary prowess.
It's not the first time Cristian has cooked for the Monarch. He was chosen to cook for the Queen at the Trooping of the Colours at Leuchars in 2018.
SEEKING THE MAGIC
Chef Picco returned to his home town of Alba in July to visit his close network of suppliers of quality ingredients and wine (and to pop in on Mamma and Papa Picco of course).
Alba and its surrounding territories now count for one of Italy’s highest concentrations of Michelin-starred restaurants, with some of the globe’s most beloved powerhouse wine regions, including Barolo, Barbaresco, and Asti, in close proximity.
Alba is steeped in culinary culture, and Chef Picco will return in October - ever lured by the flavour and aroma of his beloved underground magic... tartufi bianchi, or white truffles.
CUISINE FOR A CAUSE
Acutely aware of the effect that the coronavirus pandemic has had on third sector organisations, Chef Picco is keen to use his culinary skills to highlight and support Scottish causes close to his heart. Most recently, Cristian has worked with CLIC Sargent and Amputee Football Association Scotland.
Cristian is committed to working with third sector organisations to help raise awareness and essential funds.

SMALL FRY CHEF SCHOOL
Chef Picco visited a local nursery in Gullane recently to teach the children about the fundamentals of cooking classic Italian food. He led the budding chefs in a hands-on ravioli workshop and was greatly impressed by the results from the children!

FROM ALBA TO ALBA
Chef Picco made his way back home in May to visit Mama and Papa Picco in Alba, and he took the opportunity to help out his dad in the vegetable garden - his father's pride and joy!
After an uncharacteristically hot month, it was already bursting with fresh, plump fruit and vegetables from tomatoes and strawberries to Chef's favourites - artichokes!
Cristian took the opportunity to visit friends and family while ensuring to whip up some truly spectacular dishes using his father's home grown wares. Check out his Summer Blog with some simple Italian summer food suggestions here.

Its been a jam-packed summer for Chef Picco so far, as he has worked his magic providing private dining experiences for clients across East Lothian and beyond. He spent time catering at the Scottish Open at Archerfield and has loved getting back to it as covid restrictions start to ease.
What he has been really excited about, is the launch of his new YouTube channel, where he will be regularly posting video recipes and tips for you to follow at home.
He's kicked off the occasion with a simple summer salad, Aragosta alla Catalana. In July 2020, Cristian was invited to return to his home region of Piedmont to the luxurious Cascina Langa resort, for the exclusive Abracadabra event series.
